**September is Library Card Sign Up Month. **
While getting the Hello Kitty LA County Library card may have been a bit of a trek for Irvine families, we know some of you made the trip!
But while that card may be a fun collectible, did you know Irvine’s own library card comes with some pretty fun perks, too?
And we’re not just talking about checking out books.
Here are some of the surprising things you can check out with your Irvine Public Library card:
🔭 Telescope
Instead of buying a telescope you might only use occasionally, you can borrow one from the library!
👻 Ghost Hunting Kit
Just in time for Halloween. 👀
🐉 Dungeons & Dragons Kit
Grab everything you need to get a D&D adventure started.
☀️Hiking Kit
Take your library card outside and hit the trails!
📍 Sewing Machine
Want to try sewing without buying a machine first? You can borrow one.
🎸 Electric Guitar + Ukulele
The collection includes both, making it a fun way to try an instrument before investing in one.
✂️ Cricut Joy Xtra
Perfect for crafts, school projects, parties, Halloween decorations and all those creative ideas that require a little extra cutting power.
🛠️ Chompshop
This one might be the biggest surprise: a kid-safe power tool designed for cutting cardboard and creating cardboard figures and projects.
🚗 New Driver Kit
Have a teen learning to drive? There’s a kit specifically for new drivers.
🎮 Video Games
Yep, you can check out video games, too!
So if you have an Irvine Public Library card, don't let it sit in your wallet.
There’s a whole lot more to check out than books! 👀📚
What would you check out first?
If you got the LA County Library card, did you know all the fun things you can check out that's not books?
